Credit cards, passports and a birth certificate were among around 60 items snatched from a Royal Mail delivery worker, police have confirmed.
A handful of homes in the Westwood area of Oldham reported their post never arrived last month after mail was stolen from a Royal Mail delivery driver.
Among the missing parcels were up to 60 letters containing credit cards and passports with one mum saying she had to race to London to urgently apply for new ones for her children ahead of their holiday.
Another resident said her child’s birth certificate was also stolen but Oldham Council quickly issued her a new one for free.
Royal Mail confirmed last week that mail was stolen on November 3 at approximately 11am in the OL9 postcode.
The spokesperson said the incident had been reported to Greater Manchester Police and the investigation remains ongoing.
GMP did not issue a statement on the case at the time but has since provided an update and confirmed the items have been found and returned to Royal Mail.
The spokesperson said: “From speaking to our officers, an informant found 50-60 letters that included passports and credit cards.
“The items were since booked into property and Royal Mail attended the Police Station on November 4 to collect.”
