Orangutan chained to bed and forced to have sex with men by owner

An orangutan was chained to a bed and repeatedly forced to have sex with men for years, an animal rights charity has revealed.

The animal, named Pony, was captured at a young age and then repeatedly raped.

Pony’s body was shaved and she was covered in painful bites, rescuers said. The sickening abuse carried on for years before she was finally freed, reports the Mirror.

The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation said: “Men could pay a certain amount of money to the house owner to have sex with her.”

Pony was around six years old when she was rescued, but it is unknown how long she had been held captive and sexually abused.

The BOSF said: “The house owner strongly refused to give up Pony. To her, Pony was a cash machine and a source of luck.”

Pony was shaved daily by her owner

Police and military officers were forced to intervene to release Pony by convincing the homeowner to free the great ape. The charity said it has taken more than a decade to rehabilitate her, after years of being forced to perform sex acts with men.

Once at the Nyaru Menteng centre in Borneo, Indonesia, workers were appalled at her physical and mental state.

The animal showed no desire to explore and couldn’t forage for food herself. Volunteer Michelle Desilets said: “It was horrifying. She was a sex slave – it was grotesque. She must have been in so much pain.”

Following her rescue in 2003, men were not allowed near her, as she was traumatised by the vile abuse she had endured.

Today, she is now said to be in good health and able to forage for food at the Nyaru Menteng Rehabilitation Centre, where she is in an enclosure with seven other orangutans.
