Vital services have returned to Immingham as a pharmacy opened up a new Post Office.
Mayor and Chairman of Immingham Town Council, Cllr Malcolm Cullum, cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of Immingham Post Office on Friday.
Mohammed Moyeed and business partner Sami Syed took on Immingham Pharmacy in August. Now they have added Immingham Post Office to their shop at 18-20 Kennedy Way in Washdyke Lane.
Kennedy Way Post Office had been inside the McColl’s store, which closed. A new owner operated from these premises until a storm damaged the roof. A temporary branch then operated at Immingham Civic Centre until the postmaster resigned in June 2024.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Sharon Gaughan was also in attendance with councillors George Fox, Stewart Swinburn, Karen Swinburn and Trevor Crofts along with customers at the community celebration for Immingham Post Office.
Mayor and Chairman, Cllr Malcolm Cullum, said: “On behalf of the people of Immingham I really want to thank Mohammed Moyeed and Sami Syed for their investment into their shop – first safeguarding a pharmacy in the town and now adding Immingham Post Office.

“They have only recently arrived but they are already making a big difference to the lives of people in Immingham. They care about their customers.”
The opening hours are Monday – Friday: 9am – 6pm; Saturday: 9am – 1pm, providing 49 hours of Post Office service a week.
Postmaster Mohammed Moyeed said: “People are really delighted that they have a Post Office and a pharmacy under one roof providing services that people really need.
“Sami and I took on the shop in August and people have been really welcoming. Our customers in Immingham are lovely – they really are the loveliest people that we have served in many places across the country.
“People are very appreciative of what we are doing. We are really happy here. I came from Peterborough where it is really flat and I really like the scenery here.
“There used to be three banks in Immingham and they have all gone, so we do a lot of banking transactions on behalf of all the major high street banks and cash withdrawals.
“We have built up the pharmacy side of the business adding holiday vaccines alongside normal jabs. So, we are now a one stop destination for people going on holiday with jabs, toiletries and people can get Euros on demand or other foreign currency on pre-order, or to top up their Post Office Travel Money Card. The pharmacy and Post Office work well alongside each other and they support each other.”
There are two Post Office counters. Similar products and services are still available as before including vehicle licence renewal, send mail, paying bills and top ups.
The new owners have taken on an apprentice and a local driver to deliver pharmacy items. With business picking up they are also looking to take on additional staff.
Post Office Area Change Manager, Mary Benbow, said: “We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are delighted to have a permanent solution for Immingham again and we thank the community for its patience. There is now a buzz of excitement with the Post Office and pharmacy both open.”
