Payment dates for Social Welfare and Child Benefit to change due to Easter Bank Holiday weekend

Those in receipt of social welfare need to be aware of upcoming changes to the payment schedule over the Easter weekend.

Easter Sunday falls on March 31 and is accompanied by a bank holiday on April 1. This of course means banks and post offices will be closed come Monday. So if you’re due a social welfare payment on April 1st, you’re most likely to get it early, either on Friday the 29th or Saturday the 30th.

Child Benefit, which is typically paid on the first Tuesday of the month, will also be paid on the Friday or Saturday before due to the bank holiday. An Post has confirmed these changes and you can find a list below of when you can collect your welfare, benefit and state pension payments over the Easter weekend.

Wednesday 27 March – Payments due for collection on Thursday 28 March can be collected from Wednesday 27 March.

Thursday 28 March – Payments due for collection on Friday 29 March/Monday 01 April can be collected from Thursday 28 March. .

Friday 29 March (Good Friday) – The Post Office will be open until 1 p.m. Payments due for collection on Friday 29 March /Monday 01 April can be collected on Friday 29 March.

Saturday 30 March (Easter Saturday) – No Counter Services – Post Office Closed.

Monday April 01 (Easter Monday) – No Counter Services Post Office Closed. Payments due for collection on Monday 01 April can be collected from Thursday 28 March.
