Pensioner left fighting for life after being hit by Royal Mail van near Bristol

A pensioner is fighting for her life in hospital after being hit by a postal van near Bristol.

The woman, in her 90s, was a pedestrian in Birdwood, Hanham when the red Royal Mail van crashed into her at around 7.30pm on Friday, July 15.

Police investigating the incident are now asking for witnesses to contact them as they piece together exactly what happened.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “The woman was taken to hospital and remains in critical condition.

“The driver remained at the scene with her until emergency services arrived.

The collision happened on Birdwood in Hanham

“We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident to come forward.”
