People in tears over mum’s ‘beautiful’ gesture for daughter with rare condition

A mum’s touching gesture for her daughter, who is courageously fighting a rare and lifelong condition, has moved people to tears.

The small acts of kindness can make a great difference in one’s mood, and parents are now taking inspiration from this mother who transformed her daughter’s bedroom door beautifully. The creative mum posted the door’s transformation on TikTok under the handle @LissaJade, commenting: “Due to my daughter’s diagnosis, she won’t ever have a home of her own, so I created an apartment door for her bedroom.”

Her daughter, 18 year old Leah, was diagnosed with Myoclonic Envephalopathy Jeavons’ Syndrome in 2020 after spending more than a decade visiting doctors and enduring numerous hospital stays. The illness sadly causes epilepsy triggers eye flickering, shaking, and seizures.

In a bid to make her daughter’s world a bit brighter, Lisa adorned the previously white door with a splash of turquoise paint and added a striking white post box framed by pink roses. She also included a charming floral door mat, festooned the entrance with a plant embellished with twinkling lights, and hung a delightful wreath.

Additionally, she installed a light that resembles a quaint street lamp, fitted a doorbell, and even attached a number plate reading “206” to the door. The viral video showcased the incredible transformation of Leah’s unique bedroom.

Lisa expressed her gratitude, saying: “Thank you all for the overwhelming support and love for my daughter’s door! We’re working on getting a P.O. Box set up for her to be able to receive mail from all who wish to send!”.

People were quick to engage with the story, as one person commented, “This is one of the most loving things I’ve ever seen. To grant her her own autonomy in a safe way. This is beautiful. I am so joyful to know love like this exists in the world.”

Others expressed similar sentiments, with remarks like “This is so beautiful, brought tears to my eyes,” and “So beautiful, my 23 year old daughter has been battling cancer for six years. She will most likely live with us forever. Thank you for sharing this.”

One commenter reflected on their personal experience: “My mom and stepdad did something like this for me and it’s the best thing that ever happened. I have an anxiety and panic disorder that keeps me from being able to leave the house. They built me a garage apartment.”

Sharing further details, they added, “I’m able to have my own space, but also walk over whenever. She’s known from a young age that I likely wouldn’t ever be able to live without her.”

A mother of a daughter with Down syndrome said, “My daughter with downs just turned 18 I’m so doing this! Great idea.”

Another voice chimed in with a supportive message, “Love this! I have a 26 year old daughter that will never be able to live on her own would love to do this! “.
