English actor Sir Patrick Stewart OBE, probably best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the famous Star Trek franchise and Professor Charles Francis Xavier in the X-Men film series, has been a household name for some time now.
His hall of accolades include nominations for Olivier, Tony, Golden Globe, Emmy, and Screen Actors Guild awards – to name a few.
The 81-year-old, whose career spans over five decades, has since become somewhat of a national treasure.
However, following a recently-uploaded and rare clip of the actor as a younger man, the internet has been left in total shock at how Patrick Stewart looked in his thirties, before he became synonymous with the clean-shaven, bald-headed look we know and love him for these days.
In a video captioned ‘Patrick Stewart before he was Picard or Professor’, a TikTok user shared a short clip of the actor during an interview.
The text ‘Patrick Stewart at age 39’ was pasted across the 23-second-long video, and many were left completely stunned.
Garnering more than 44.2K views, the TikTok has since received heaps of comments from surprised viewers.
“Was he ever young?” joked one TikTok user.
Others argued that he looked older as a 39-year-old then he currently does in his later films, “Why does he look older here?”
“He looks younger now than he did then,” another agreed.
While some came to the actor’s defence, “Bald doesn’t mean you’re old guys, some men just lose their hair very early, some in their early twenties,” others were clearly not as forgiving, “This man never knew hair.”
Even though dozens of TikTok users were alarmed by the short clip, many made sure to voice their adoration for the critically-acclaimed actor.
“Dude has an amazing beard, worth going bald for,” commented one fan.
A second added, “Was he ever not sexy? The charisma coming off this man is UNREAL.”
“I wish I had the courage and swagger to rock my bald head in that fashion,” a third revealed.
Patrick Stewart’s newest work is Marvel Studios’ huge $200 million budget Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where he revisits the iconic role of none other than Charles Xavier.
The plot details that: “Dr Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens a portal to the multiverse. However, a threat emerges that may be too big for his team to handle.”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, directed by Sam Raimi, was released yesterday, 6 May, and is now available to watch in cinemas.
