Pharmacy2U relaunches pet service – The Pharmacist

Pharmacy2U, has relaunched it veterinary offering becoming the only online pharmacy to offer pet services alongside human health services via an app.

Pharmacy2U acquired The PharmPet Co in 2024 and this service is now fully integrated into Pharmacy2U’s website and app, giving people the ability to look after the health, wellbeing and prescriptions of their whole family – including their furry friends – in one place.

Pet Health is now hosted within the Pharmacy2U platform rather than linking out to a separate service and the introduction of a single, central basked allows customers to check out pet health products alongside their other Pharmacy2U services.

Pet owners will now have access to the same medicine availability and free Royal Mail delivery as the online business’ 1.8 million customers in England via Pharmacy2U Pet Health.

This follows recent government proposals requiring vet practice to publish price lists for common treatments, with a final decision due to be announced in early spring.

The reforms help households understand what they are paying for, avoid unexpected costs and choose the best value care for their pets.

Average vet prices rose by 63% between 2016 and 2023 – well above the rate of inflation.

Veterinary services director at the company – and original founder of The PharmPet Co – Neil Younger, said: ‘Pet owners are often unaware that in some cases they get their pet’s medication up to 50% cheaper, by simply going online.

‘For millions of people across the nation, pets are seen as another member of the family, so it is only fair that owners can manage their medicines in the same way they do for the rest of the family.

He recognised that no owner wants added concerns when a pet falls sick. Becoming part of Pharmacy2U will give the company greater reach and better tools.

This integration marks the latest step in the company’s growth after it acquired online pharmacy LloydsDirect in 2023, had a full business rebrand in 2025, and achieved B Cop status last month.

In July 2025, the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) announced the launch of the world’s first surveillance programme designed to measure antibiotic resistance in healthy dogs and cats across the UK.
