PHUKET, Thailand – Phuket Province hosted a charitable Thai textile fashion show, “The Artistic Elegance of Phuket Local Fabrics Under the Royal Grace of Her Majesty the Queen Mother,” to preserve local textile heritage and promote Thai fabrics internationally.

The event was held on February 14, 2026, at Chartered Bank House in Mueang Phuket District. Phuket Governor Nirat Pongsitthaworn and Kusumal Pongsitthithaworn, President of the Phuket Red Cross Society and Chair of the Provincial Interior Housewives Association, presided over the ceremony. Provincial officials, Red Cross committee members, and private-sector partners also attended.

The Governor expressed deep gratitude to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother for her royal initiatives, highlighting Her Majesty’s longstanding dedication to preserving and promoting Thai arts and handicrafts, especially textiles. He also noted the establishment of the SUPPORT Foundation, which has improved rural livelihoods nationwide through sustainable craft development.

Her Majesty the Queen Mother’s promotion of eight traditional Thai royal costume styles and the use of Thai silk in both domestic and international engagements have helped elevate Thai textiles to global recognition.

A highlight of the event was the charitable fashion showcase, which featured four themed collections: royal-inspired Thai attire, locally designed fabrics, and modern interpretations of Thai textiles. Awards were presented in seven categories.

The program also featured a special musical performance by renowned artist Utain Prommin, which contributed to an atmosphere of Thai cultural pride and charitable cooperation.

The event demonstrates an ongoing commitment to safeguarding Thai textile heritage, encouraging daily use of Thai fabrics, and supporting charitable activities. (NNT)
