Funded by Glasgow City Council and organised by Glasgow Life, the event was part of GO LIVE! which offers a range of activities for all ages and abilities to participate in.

The events are happening across the city and are free to attend including at George Square, Merchant City, Cathkin Braes, Cowlairs, Barrowfield, The Loading Bay and Glasgow Science Centre.

Bailie Annette Christie, Chairperson of Glasgow Life, said: “Here at Tollcross International Swimming Centre, we’ve had a fantastic programme of family activities on throughout the day for everybody of all ages and abilities to get involved in and feel part of the championships, including cycling activities for families to try, musical performances and activities, and arts and crafts.

“It’s important to recognise that Glasgow’s hosting of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships is as much about the local communities in Glasgow as it is about welcoming and supporting the elite athletes that are coming to the city to compete for the rainbow jerseys.

“All the events are dedicated to celebrating and promoting active and healthy lifestyles and ensuring everyone, whether sports fans or not, can get involved, soak up the atmosphere, and have some fun whilst connecting with this world-class event.”
