Pictures show Netflix show Bridgerton filming in Greenwich ahead of third season

Fans of the hit Netflix show Bridgerton were left excited this week when pictures emerged of filming taking place in Greenwich. The romantic-period drama is currently filming its third season on the outskirts of the county following the release of the show’s second season which came out in March.

The show rose to popularity particularly for its diverse casting within the period drama, and is now a favourite among Netflix fans. The cast were pictured on Wednesday (August 3) at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich with horse drawn carriages and carts in the courtyard.

Cast members have also spotted pictured dressed up in the fashionable Regency era attire that is synonymous with the show. Carriage drivers were seen in their green and white and gold and grey overcoats and trousers.

The filming’s base of operations could also be seen from afar, set up in the very centre of the college which has become something of a hub for TV and movie filming for its period architecture and wide open spaces, making it easy to film with a minimum of disruption from traffic or passers by, as MyLondon reports. Bridgerton season three is set to focus on the love story of Polin – or Penelope Featherington (Nichola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

The suitors are set to initially go their separate ways before settling their differences, although there may not necessarily be a happy ending according to the synopsis, which reveals “Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly.” No release date has been set for the series just yet, but filming only started in July with fans having to wait a bit longer for a hint of a trailer.

Fans can probably expect the next instalment to arrive sometime in 2023 with most of the big cast members from season two set to return. Sadly the breakout star of season one Rege-Jean Page won’t be returning though as he made clear on Instagram a few weeks ago after much speculation.

Reacting to the pictures on Facebook one fan wrote: “Avid Bridgerton fans will recognise the exterior of this Georgian property from the show as the outside of the Bridgerton family’s Wysteria-clad mansion. In the show, the family is said to live on Grosvenor Square but in actuality, Ranger’s House is on Greenwich Park and today, houses The Wernher Collection.”

Another excited fan wrote: “I go to school here and got an information email, it’s definitely Bridgeton (until the 4th August apparently)”.
