The use of drones to deliver medical equipment and supplies across Scotland is moving forward after significant funding was secured from a UK government body.
The next phase of the Caelus project is receiving £10.1 million from UK Research and Innovation’s future flight challenge programme. The deal is being announced at Farnborough International Airshow today.
Caelus previously received £1.5 million at the start of 2020, which was used to design landing areas and develop a digital flight map for the drones to ensure they do not disrupt other air traffic.
As a result, the links between hospitals, pathology laboratories, distribution centres and GP surgeries around the country have been planned out.
