Plans to expand Aberdeen retail estate offerings

Plans for two shops, a restaurant and a drive-through have been revealed for an Aberdeen retail park.

Land to the east of Ikea on Wellington Circle could be the home of the new retail units.

Meanwhile, at the Makro site, a new restaurant and drive-through take-away could be created.

Ryden LLP is behind the plans, but have not revealed who would occupy the units..

The park already contains major firms like Ikea, Makro, Burger King, Starbucks and Costa Coffee.

Alongside the food and drink favourites, companies like Veitchi flooring, Balmoral, Allied International and the Royal Mail have bases.

Cove Rangers also have their stadium there and Lochside academy is located nearby.

Torry and Ferryhill councillor Alan Donnelly said the new developments had already led to a large expansion of the area in recent years.

He said: “There is an expanding population in the area, with the new school just opened bringing all the pupils and the staff there.

“Balmoral is a major employer too so there is obviously a business case for the planned facilities in the area.

“While not commenting on the merits of either application, this area of the city is clearly seen as ripe for investment by developers.”
