Platinum Jubilee bank holiday: Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Lidl opening times and Royal Mail delivery changes

As the UK gears up for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, some supermarkets are set to shorten their opening hours due to the extended bank holiday.

More than 70,000 Big Jubilee Lunches are planned in the four UK nations over the weekend, with an expected 10 million people set to sit down with their neighbours on June 5, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). More than 16,000 street parties are also expected to be thrown with residents eager to celebrate the monarch’s 70-year milestone while pub opening hours are being extended from 11pm to 1am.

With so much going on and food and drink set to be in high demand, it’s highly likely that there will be some last-minute dashes to the supermarkets for more supplies. Most supermarkets will open on bank holidays, though many with reduced hours and store opening times tend to vary depending on location and store type.

Royal Mail has said it will not offer any deliveries or collections on Thursday, June 2, or Friday, June 3, while deliveries and collections will take place as normal on Saturday, June 4, the ECHO reports.
