Though some services have only been retimed, services through Eggbuckland and Honicknowle have been significantly altered
Plymouth Citybus has announced changes to routes around the city. These changes will take place from Sunday 4 September, and will include significant changes to a number of bus routes serving Eggbuckland and Honicknowle.
Announcing the changes on Friday 26, Plymouth City Bus have also said there will be minor changes to routes serving Derriford Hospital, with the intention to improve reliability during periods of congestion. Bus routes 27/27A, 28/28A, 36, 61/62, and 75A have been majorly altered.
One of the new bus routes will now serve the George Park and Ride, replacing the Stagecoach 101 bus which will be withdrawn on September 4. Bus number 27, running through Eggbuckland will be running through Asda and Estover Industrial Estate, before heading on to the George Park and Ride. Passengers will be able to change for Derriford at Asda or the park and ride.
It comes as Stagecoach announced its 101 bus service, which runs from The George Park & Ride to Plymouth Royal Parade will cease running. The 101 service is set to be axed on September 4, the same day the new 27 Citybus service is in place.
There will also be a new bus service to City College Plymouth, operated by the school. The route taken will head from Royal Parade to Western Approach, Saltash Road for the rail station, and on to Pennycomequick and Paradise Road to the college.
This will run Monday to Friday every 30 minutes on school days. Some journeys will be extended from City College through Devonport for Oceangate.
Other bus routes have had alterations to their timetables to improve reliability – a preview of the upcoming changes is available on the Plymouth City Bus website . Plymouth City Bus have recently been forced to cancel buses running at certain time and to certain places due to ‘operational difficulties’, and it is hoped that the upcoming changes will improve reliability for services.
