Plymstock Post Office remains closed with no date set for re-opening after flood damage

The Plymstock Post Office has been closed for business after the branch was damaged in a recent flood.

The flooding occurred earlier in the month when 68 homes in the Plymstock area were left without power.

Many locals have been upset at the loss of a local institution and have asked for an opening date.

However, a spokesperson for the Post Office has confirmed that there is not yet a date for reopening.

The spokesperson advised locals to utilise either the Elburton or Embankment Road branches instead for the time being.

In a statement, the Post Office spokesperson said: “Plymstock Post Office is still closed after a recent flood. We do not yet have a date for the re-opening of the Post Office.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused the unplanned closure. In the interim alternative branches include Elburton and Embankment Road.”

One Plymstock local was not having a good day when he found out the post office had closed.

The Twitter user also complained that UPS and the Royal Mail website were also incurring issues. Not a good day if you were eagerly anticipating an important parcel.

He said: “Great, @RoyalMail #Plymstock Post Office closed due to flooding (Its on thr flat), @UPS tried to drop a parcel off and your system is down and now the Royal Mail website has stopped processing orders via @Worldpay_Global.”
