Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision on Briddlesford Road near Newport last night (Thursday) in which a 19-year-old man remains in hospital.
As previously reported by Island Echo, a blue Citroen C1 left the carriageway and landed upside down in a field between Downend and Wootton, near the Combley Road junction.
The incident occurred between 21:00 and 21:15 in which a 19-year-old man from Sandown suffered serious injuries for which he is still receiving hospital treatment.
The 19-year-old was flown to Southampton General Hosptial and the road remained closed for some time.
Police would like to hear from anyone who was driving along Briddlesford Road at the time of the incident, or who may have seen the vehicle in the area prior to the collision.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“Did you witness this incident at all, or see anything immediately prior? Did you see any other vehicles at the location in addition to the Citroen?
“Perhaps you were driving through and caught something on Dash Cam.
