Two men have been arrested following a serious crash involving a cyclist in Spring Bank West.
The rider had to be rushed to Hull Royal Infirmary after the collision which happened at just before 9am on Sunday.
His injuries were described as “serious” at the time and crime scene investigators were pictured taking evidence in the busy street.
The cyclist was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa on the inbound carriageway close to Hull’s Western Cemetery.
Now, police have confirmed two men were arrested in connection to the crash and they have both since been released “under investigation”.
A bystander at the scene said Spring Bank West was a hazardous route for riders. He said: “It’s a very dangerous road for cyclists. It was a matter of time before something like this happened.”
In a police update issued on Tuesday afternoon, a spokeswoman for the force said: “A man remains in hospital today following a collision on Sunday, September 8.
“The man was cycling on Spring Bank West at 8.45am when he was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa.
“He was taken to hospital on Sunday for treatment for his injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.
“Two men were arrested in connection with the incident and have since both been released under investigation as we continue our enquiries.”
