Police searching for ‘pick-up’ driver after cyclist dies on Scots road

Police are searching for the driver of a pick-up truck after a cyclist died being knocked down by a van on a road in West Lothian.

Emergency services were called to the A70, near Harburn in West Calder, after the alarm was raised at around 8.45am on Friday, May 2.

Officers were responding to reports of a crash involving white Vauxhall van and a cyclist.

Ambulance crews attended but the 65-year-old male cyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Road policing officers are now appealing for the driver of a silver or grey pick-up to come forward to assist with their enquiries into the fatal crash.

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said: “As our investigation progresses, it has now been established that a silver or grey pick-up style vehicle was in the area around the time of the crash.

“It is possible that the driver may have information that would assist our enquiries and I would ask that they come forward.”
