Police seek information about cash register stolen from bottle shop

Police are looking for help to find a person who stole a cash register from a Mooroopna bottle shop in August.

Police said the person was the front seat passenger of a car that pulled into the Royal Mail Hotel drive-through bottle shop on August 14 about 10.50pm.

Police allege the person ran into the bottle shop and “reefed” the cash register from the temporarily unstaffed sales counter.

They then ran back to the waiting vehicle, with all occurring in less than 10 seconds, according to police.

The white Ford Falcon AU, which did not have any number plates, had parked in McLennan St near the exit of the drive-through bottle shop.

After the person got in with the cash register, the vehicle was last seen turning right into Mill St and heading north.

The cash register contained $300, while the actual register was worth $500.

Police said the person is believed to be a male, about 180cm to 190cm tall, medium build, wearing a dark-coloured balaclava, dark-coloured gloves, a navy blue jumper, navy blue pants, and dirty black gumboots.

Do you recognise this car?: The car police say was involved in the theft of a cash register from a Mooroopna hotel.

Anyone with information about the person or the car is asked to call First Constable Clint Thomas at Mooroopna Police Station on 5825 4131 or email [email protected] or make a report to Crime Stoppers at crimestoppersvic.com.au
