A man who was seen being bundled into a car boot sparking kidnap fears has come forward to say he is ‘ok’.

Police had said a male was spotted being supposedly forced into the back of a silver Volkswagen Jetta by three Asian men, just after midnight on Thursday (January 20).

Police have said the man concerned had seen the appeal and got in touch to say he was fine.

A statement by West Midlands Police read: “Thanks to everyone who shared our appeal yesterday to trace a man who was shown being put in the boot of a car on Alum Rock Road in Birmingham.

“Some good news. A 21-year-old man shown in the image saw our appeal and got in touch say he was OK.

“We were worried that he had been forced into the car and may have been harmed.

“He’s told there were no sinister motives but we are making some follow-up enquiries.

“Thanks again for your help.”
