POLICE have warned of a new “Royal Mail” scam.
In an online alert, Thames Valley Police warned residents that scammers have been sending a “huge number” of fake delivery emails and texts – preying on people waiting for the post after the Christmas rush and parcels ordered online in lockdown.
In one of the known scams, fraudsters claim to be from the post delivery company and use the red logo to ask residents to pay a “redelivery fee”.
It says that due to an “incomplete address” the parcel could not be delivered so the company need bank details and personal information to resend it.

But in the alert police warned: “If you have ordered something online, they usually send you a delivery number so you can track delivery. Make a note of these reference numbers and keep them to hand in case you get one of these calls.”
If you receive an unexpected email check the sender’s email address – they can look genuine so look for minor details like an extra letter, number or full stop.
