A temporary post office service is set to be introduced at two places in Staffordshire after the closure of their permanent offices which used to offer services.
The Royal Mail ‘outreach’ service is set to be introduce in Kings Bromley and in Longdon on Tuesdays.
The pop-up Post Offices will operate in Kings Bromley Village Hall and at the Longdon Village Hall.
The services will be run by the postmaster from the Armitage Post Office and are set to start from Tuesday, October 5, and will run on a weekly basis.
Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant welcomed the news, saying ‘Outreach’ services were the ‘best and quickest solution’ to bring Post Office services back to the residents of Kings Bromley and Longdon.
Tory MP Mr Fabricant, whose constituency includes Kings Bromley, said: “Following the unfortunate closures of Longdon and Kings Bromley Post Offices, new Post Office services are being introduced with the introduction of a new outreach service at Longdon Village Hall, Brook End, Longdon, commencing on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 3pm.
“Kings Bromley Post Office will also be restored at Kings Bromley Village Hall, 35 Alrewas Road, Kings Bromley, as a new outreach service, commencing on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 1pm.
“Because of the shortage of people willing to be postmasters and for other reasons, including the viability of small village post offices, the Post Office claim that these ‘outreach’ services present the best and quickest solution to restore Post Office services to the communities of Longdon and Kings Bromley.”
