The topper had raised more than £1,200 for charity before its disappearance on Thursday (March 6) from outside Guildhall.
Lucy Higgins, who is deaf and created the topper to raise awareness for a charity close to her heart, is devastated by the news and has urged whoever took the topper to return it to the Worcester Tourist Information Centre as soon as possible.
The post box topper had raised vital funds for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People who connected her with her best friend, Wilbur, in 2022 and who makes an appearance in the work.
Lucy Higgins said: “It was meant to raise awareness of the charity and to cheer people up, and now it’s gone. It’s devastating.
“I checked with Royal Mail before making the topper and they said that as long as it didn’t interfere with the opening of the post box, they had no problem with it.
“In fact, they said a lot of posties enjoy seeing them.
“I can only think that it has been stolen.
“I just can’t believe someone would do that for something meant to raise awareness of a charity. It’s very upsetting.
“Wilbur isn’t just my hearing dog – he’s my best friend, he’s given me so much back, and I wanted to help others experience the same transformation.”
The post box topper consisted of seven puppies plus Wilbur in the centre and is now assumed to be stolen.

Gill Yeates, head of community fundraising for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, was heartbroken to hear the news and said: “Lucy put in an incredible amount of work to crochet the topper and its puppies.
“It took her the best part of a month, working around five hours each day and fitting it in around walking and caring for her hearing dog Wilbur.
“This is a huge loss, both for Lucy and for our charity.
“I would urge anyone who finds the topper, or who knows where it might be, to take it into the Tourist Information Office.”
