Time is ticking for those wishing to send Christmas parcels and cards, with the Post Office warning most of international posting deadlines have already passed. Research conducted for the Post Office reveals that two-thirds of Britons have experienced the frustration of Christmas post arriving after the festive day itself. There is still some time for overseas deliveries, as certain carriers continue to offer Christmas arrival to chosen destinations until next week on December 15.

However, the Post Office has issued the final deadline for Christmas shoppers, confirming the last day Britons can send out parcels and letters for delivery before December 25 before presents arrive late. This is crucial as, according to the findings, around 17% of people have previously missed crucial posting deadlines.

Postmaster, Arif Matadar, shared his top tips on how to ensure packages get to loved ones on time this Christmas.

He said: “When you’re posting a parcel, we’ll always ask what’s inside as we need to find out if it’s safe to post and make sure your item can be sent to its destination. For example, perfume can be sent within the UK, but not overseas. We’ll also check the value, how quickly you want it delivered and what tracking you want which helps us recommend the best delivery option. It’s also important to package your parcel securely so it’s protected on its journey, and to write addresses as clearly as possible to help it get to where it needs to go and a return address just in case there are any problems.

“If sending abroad, you’ll also need to provide details about the contents to ensure we can include the right customs information to meet international regulations.”
