The post office on High Street in downtown Lexington was evacuated and nearby streets closed Thursday afternoon after a suspicious package was found inside the building. The package was discovered around 3 p.m. Police have blocked off an area from Rose Street to Martin Luther King Blvd and between High Street and Limestone. Hazmat and a K-9 unit have been called to the scene.
