A Post Office postmaster has issued a warning to customers over a “common mistake” they are making.
This involves how packages are tracked by the mailing company, as not all items are able to be followed in the same way.
However, they do offer a variety of services that could alleviate the problem and ensure that your package is sent in a way that best suits you.

Postmaster Tony Fleming, who works at Thorne Post Office in Doncaster, said people often misunderstand how tracking works.
He explained: “A common mistake people make is thinking that we are able to track items sent via standard mail when in fact only Tracked or Special Delivery services offer that level of visibility, via Royal Mail.
“Our new Multi Carrier offering has changed the landscape here though with both EVRI and DPD offering tracking as standard.”
In 2023, the Post Office launched a service allowing you to buy parcel postage to send items via DPD and Evri.
This allows customers to choose which courier they would like to send their parcel.
Tony continued: “In recent times as local banks have closed customers have become aware that cash deposits and withdrawals and balance enquires can be made over the counter for most UK banks.
“But most are unaware that the Post Office offers a comprehensive range of straightforward and competitive savings accounts for customers via our agreement with One Family and Bank of Ireland.”
It comes as the Post Office has confirmed a major shake-up to 4,000 Post Offices – with UK households issued an alert.
It has announced an exclusive deal with Western Union to provide money transfer services at branches.
Western Union will now become the sole provider of international money transfer services at Post Office branches.
The Post Office also announced the deal will see it expand beyond its current 4,000 Post Office locations which offer its money transfer services.
