A deluge of season’s greetings, cash-filled cards and thank you notes made Christmas 2025 a busy time for the Post Office.

You might also need to go to the Post Office to collect a parcel from a Christmas delivery, or send something off for the New Year.

But don’t leave the house just yet because you need to check if your local outlet is actually open.

Metro has brought together the expected opening times for Post Office outlets over the festive period.

The Post Office has a network of 11,500 branches across the UK, but only 115 of those are determined as ‘Crown’ Post Offices.

These are branches still run by the Post Office, typically in city centre locations, rather than independently.

What has the Post Office said?

Last year, a Post Office spokesperson said that it knows ‘local residents and businesses rely on Post Office services in the run-up to Christmas’ and branches operated by independent Postmasters often stay open even at regular closure dates.

They added: ‘Our advice is to check a branch’s local Facebook page for information about openings over Christmas or visit postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder.

‘We have thousands of branches typically located inside convenience stores and we would expect many of these to remain open throughout the festive period, some will even be open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.’
