Post Office returns to Leicestershire town after closure 10 months ago

A Post Office has returned to a Leicestershire town, 10 months after closing its previous branch. The last store was forced to close following the postmaster’s resignation.

The new Post Office store opened on Wednesday, October 29, in Fare on the Square, in Coalville’s Marlborough Square. This has restored services to the town, after the previous branch in Ashby Road closed in January.

Post Office bosses said they wanted to open the new branch “as soon as possible”. Despite the new site being open to the public, new signage for the front of the premises will be installed soon and some other work on the inside is still to take place.

Post Office area change manager Anne Murphy said: “We know how important a Post Office is to this community and we are delighted to have a great-looking new branch, with an extensive range of Post Office services, in the town again.”

There will be three counters, with an “extensive” range of services available to match the previous location. Banking requests, licence applications and passport applications will be available.

Financial services, including savings accounts, cheque deposits, and cash withdrawals, are also among the list of services. Customers will be able to use the pay bills and top up service, as well as mail parcels via drop and go, post and go, and Parcelforce express. A range of travel services will also be available.

The new branch’s opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 9am until 5.30pm, and Saturday from 9am until 12.30pm. Time-restricted parking with a designated disabled bay is available nearby.
