Postal Network Disruption Causes Delays for Royal Mail Customers

The postal service is advising households to prepare for potential delays today following disruptions to three of its network operations.

While Royal Mail aims to provide delivery service to “all addresses” six days a week, there are “significant” issues in its logistics operation that may affect this goal.

In its latest update, Royal Mail explained that the movement of mail through its air and road networks did not go according to schedule, resulting in potential delays in the delivery of post.

Additionally, delays have been experienced at two mail centers, affecting deliveries in specific areas.

Here is the full list of postcodes that may be affected on Tuesday, June 20.

According to Royal Mail, a flight from East Midlands to Aberdeen was stopped last night due to a “technical issue” at the destination.

As a result, there are widespread delays in deliveries to the North East of Scotland, Orkney, and Shetland.

Mail posted in certain parts of the Midlands, South West, North of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, scheduled for delivery today, may also be affected by these delays.

On the road, two vehicles transporting mail to the National Distribution Centre were delayed due to junction closures on the M1.

This resulted in the post arriving later than planned and missing the connecting outbound services.

In their service update, Royal Mail stated: “As a result, some mail posted in certain postcode areas including EC, N, W1, WC, GU, KT, SW, and TW, due for delivery in parts of the North East, the North West, the Midlands, the South East of England, and parts of Scotland may arrive later than planned.”

Both the Jubilee Mail Centre and Northern Ireland Mail Centre have also experienced delays in the past 24 hours.

Mail posted in the GU, KT, SW, and TW postcode areas may face delays if scheduled for delivery today.

In Northern Ireland, there may be a delay in mail delivery to the BT postcode area.

According to Royal Mail, local issues at the Westhill office have caused delays in deliveries to the AB13, AB14, and AB32 postcode areas.
