POSTAL workers are hoping to deliver a sizeable amount of charity cash with their latest fundraising exploits.

The team at the Royal Mail’s Macclesfield Delivery Office, on Jordangate, are taking part in Movember – where they are sponsored to grow a moustache.

In total 18 male members of staff are growing the facial fuzz throughout the month of November and female workers are also taking part by donating to the cause.

Money will used to support men’s health projects including mental health and suicide prevention as well as testicular and prostate cancer.

Among those taking part in Tim Hartley, who has been a postman for 36 years. He said: “We are all doing it and thought with everything going on it would be more poignant.

“We will have discussions about whose moustache is the best and most bushy but it will be a few weeks before we can tell.

“It has been a struggle this year, I’ve never seen anything like it. We’ve been busy as everyone is ordering packages online.

“But we have a good team here and things like this are a nice distraction that bring you together.”

The event was organised by manager Jake Nurse and so far more than £800 has been raised.

Earlier this year the team raised money for East Cheshire Hospice by going out on their rounds in fancy dress costumes.

Outfits that put a smile on residents’ faces included Where’s Wally, superheroes, knights and a punk rocker.

These efforts raised more than £2,000.To donate to the latest cause visit the Movember website and search Macclesfield Delivery Office.
