Mr Hearn said that he had suspicions that something untoward had been happening after he found that his doorstep was wet most mornings.

A Royal Mail postman was caught on camera urinating outside a family’s front door inside their apartment block in Rainham, East London

The couple used CCTV cameras outside their front door to get to the bottom of the bizarre findings and ended up catching the postman in the act.

In the footage, recorded at around 11am on Friday, September 22, the postal worker, who appears to be in his fifties, climbs the stairs with the red Royal Mail satchel over his shoulder.

He rounds the corner and tucks a selection of letters that he had been carrying in his hand, under his arm.

The postman then unbuttons his shorts and urinates against the wall for about 20 seconds.

Once he is finished, he proceeds down the stairs to deliver the letters to Mr Hearn’s neighbours before leaving the block.

Mr Hearn and his family originally put the moisture down to condensation or bad weather conditions but now believes the postman has been doing this regularly over the past few months.

He says: ‘It absolutely stinks of urine.

‘I’ve had to carry my kids over the steps. It is not on.’

Mr Hearn added that he has since been forced to clean the urine off of his doorstep.

A spokeswoman for the Royal Mail said: ‘We expect the highest standards of behaviour from our people at all times.

‘We are investigating this incident as a matter of urgency.’
