Postman who left old woman lying in snow after doorstep fall sacked by Royal Mail

A postie who left a frail pensioner lying on her doorstep after she fell has been sacked by Royal Mail.

Thomas McCafferty ignored the pleas for help from Patricia Stewart, 72, as she lay on the steps of her home in Falkirk last February in freezing conditions.

He told the stricken OAP that he was too tired to help.

Thomas McCafferty.

The moment was captured in a shocking video from her neighbour’s camera doorbell which disgusted Patricia’s family.

When she asked for help, the callous postman said: “I can’t help pal, I’m knackered. Absolutely knackered.” He left without even calling for help.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: “We can confirm that the individual concerned has left the business. We are sorry for the distress this incident has caused.”
