Poundland is rolling out its loyalty scheme app nationwide

Poundland is launching its first-ever loyalty scheme app nationwide this week following a successful trial.

Poundland Perks allows shoppers to collect one point for every 1p they spend on select products – then once they’ve built up 5,000 points, they can redeem a digital voucher worth £1 to spend in-store or online. This means you have to spend £50 to get to 5,000 points. To celebrate its nationwide launch, Poundland will “power-up” its perks points to give customers 100 points for every pound they spend across all its products until Christmas.

The loyalty app will also offer customers discounts on “at least” 100 products. On top of this, shoppers will be able to win points and prizes through its “Spin to Winsday” game which takes place on Wednesdays. Some of the prizes include TVs, soundbars, free online delivery and up to 1,000 points.

Poundland Perks has been on trial in around 100 stores on the Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and Scotland – but from tomorrow (October 17) it will be available in all 850 of its stores across the UK. Poundland’s Director of Digital, Tom Hill, said: “Today’s a really important day for our customers as we open up a new digital world that gives them the chance to save, earn and play through their smartphone, making shopping with us even more fun, and even more amazing value – whether in store or online.

“Thanks to our pilots in Scotland, Northern Ireland and on the Isle of Wight, we’ve created an app that’s convenient and easy for people to use in store, with reward vouchers that help customers save even more. So far, we’ve already had over 500,000 customers sign up through our digital platforms and are looking forward to welcoming many more.

“We’re doing things differently to other retailers, delivering extra value on top of our everyday low prices and we know from our pilots that our customers love the increased value and simplicity that the Perks app provides. We’re thrilled to be launching this across the UK today.”

Poundland also today revealed how it is investing around £20million in new tills and faster self-checkouts. The new tills enable customers to use the app on their phone when purchasing their favourite items with offers and digital vouchers. The app can be used at every manned checkout and by December 1, every self-service till will also be fully compatible with the Poundland Perks.

The app is also fully usable on the poundland.co.uk website. It comes after Poundland revealed shoppers will be given clear signs across each of its stores that will highlight which of its hundreds of products cost £1. They say the deals are available “as customers continue to demand value to help them make their money go further”.
