A Preston man walking to Blackpool ahead of an upcoming football match will raise funds for the hospital that saved his dad’s life.
On 23 October, Stuart Bamber will walk to Blackpool ahead of the match with Preston North End. He will begin his journey at the Ashton lane ends and arrive in Blackpool before kick-off, around 19 miles.
A few weeks ago, Stuart’s dad suffered a heart attack and was rushed to Blackpool hospital, the region’s heart specialist. Doctors said he would need a quadruple bypass, which was performed a week later.

Stuart said: “I would like to give something back to the Heart Foundation and Blackpool Victoria hospital, who looked after him and did his surgery.
“Dad is now on his long road to recovery. He is well known around Preston from his many years in the Preston Sunday leagues and his 40 plus years of service at Royal Mail.
“He is a lifelong Preston fan, so I thought the game would be perfect for raising as much as I can. I have two friends walking with me.”
