Prince Andrew and Denise Welch in furious dinner party row over ‘disrespectful’ Princess Diana comment

Denise Welch has issued a furious verdict on Prince Andrew – after the pair rowed at a dinner party.

The Loose Women panelist laid into the royal on the ITV1 daytime favourite today.

Denise used the daytime show on Wednesday, September 4, to slam the Prince.

The mother of 1975 singer Matty Healy discussed her encounter with Prince Andrew during a discussion about his friendship with Jeremy Epstein.

Denise told the rest of the panel she was at a charity event with ex-husband Tim Healy and the royal.

Denise said she was “very cross” with Prince Andrew

Speaking on today’s show, Denise said: “I had a dinner with Prince Andrew, not just me and Prince Andrew, with about 20 people, many years ago when I was the vice president for a wonderful charity called the Western Spirit.

“I was sat opposite this cricketer and my ex-husband and Prince Andrew was to the side.

“And myself and this cricketer, I won’t name names, made a decision not to mention Princess Diana because she had only recently died, I never met Diana but loved her so much and was mortified when she died like many people.

“Anyway, Prince Andrew was very keen to talk about her and he brought it up and he started to say things that really, really upset me, and things that to me, were very disrespectful about somebody that he shouldn’t have been sharing this information with.

“Back in the day, I liked a vodka or two, and all I can say is that he got up to leave, walked around to the top of the table put his hand on my then-husband’s shoulder and said ‘rather you than me, sir.’

Nadia said: “Because you had told him how you felt?”

Denise added: “I absolutely did tell him how I felt. I was very, very cross.”

She has previously said that she thought it was a mistake for Prince Andrew to remain friends with Epstein.

They read out a statement from Prince Andrew who said: “I can only reiterate my regret that I was mistaken to think that what I thought I knew of him was evidently not the real person given what we now know.”

Denise said: “No. What you knew of him was that he was a convicted child abuser, so it is not a mistake. You made a conscious decision to remain firends.”

Then as she tossed the cue card with his statement behind her, she added: “So I don’t care what he says.”

The Duke of York has been contacted for comment.
