It is said that Prince Andrew faces effectively being evicted from his mansion within months if his grant is slashed by his older brother.
The King is reported to be cutting an estimated £249,000 of the money the Prince used to receive from the Queen’s private fortune.
This would be a substantial cut to his earnings after many of his business ventures fell through following the outrage against him.
He would mostly rely on his Navy pension, meaning he would no longer be able to afford the upkeep and running costs of his 30-room Royal home with some saying he would be out by September.
The Duke had previously signed a 75-year lease on the property in 2003 and was put on edge when a senior royal joked ‘We will kick Andrew out of the house’ during a Christmas party, according to Metro.
Prince Andrew feels as though his brother ‘wishes to evict him’
In February, he was warned that the money he receives would change in April after becoming a non-working member of the royal family.
Sources told The Sun: “It feels as though his brother wishes to evict him.”
Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Duchess of York, is also concerned about the possible eviction as she has been living in the mansion.
The source added: “The Queen died only a few months ago.
“He’s not being explicitly kicked out but it’s expected that he won’t be able to afford the maintenance.
“Royal Lodge has a swimming pool, 98 acres of land and is already in need of some repair.”
However, it is understood that the King would not allow his brother to become broke, adding that Charles just wants the family to use their own money to pay for things.
Similar rules are also being applied to other Windsors like Andrew’s daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
The King’s preference for a ‘slimmed down’ royal family has been known for years as he “knows the public doesn’t want to see money wasted,”, especially during the cost of living crisis.
Why did Prince Andrew step back from royal duties?
The Duke of York was forced to take a step back from public duties after he was accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl in America while she was the victim of sex trafficking.
The sex trafficking ring, which Virginia Giuffre was said to be the victim of, was orchestrated by billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The Duke strongly denies these allegations.
