King Charles has allegedly refused Prince Andrew a top role in the Royal Family. It’s reported the Duke of York offered to manage the Firm’s prestigious estates, but was turned down.
Andrew is said to be refusing to leave his 30-bedroom Royal Lodge home in Windsor despite the King informing him of planned budget cuts. The Duke was offered a move to Frogmore Cottage after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were evicted, but was reportedly defiant.
It comes after the Mirror reported insider claims that Andrew was ‘insisting on having a job’ despite being made to stand down from his duties by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Prince Andrew stepped back from the Royal Family amid misconduct allegations during the Virginia Giuffre scandal.

One insider told the Mirror: “Andrew is insisting on having a job despite being made to stand down from his duties and now he’s being kicked out of his home. He’s of the opinion that he is still a senior member of the family, despite not being a working royal and deserves to be treated as such.
“He is prepared to take on the responsibility of a big role running an estate and still thinks he is far too young to retire. However, the King certainly has a wildly different view to that of his brother and has told him straight, there is no chance of that happening.”
The King has so far resisted attempts by Andrew and daughters Eugenie and Beatrice, who are also understood to have met with the Monarch to fight their father’s case. But sources close to the Duke suggest he is prepared to ‘dig his heels in’ after being told he must leave his home.
The £30 million pad is understood to have severe damp issues and require extensive repair works. An insider previously told The Sun : “Royal Lodge is in a terrible state and it is falling down.
“Millions were spent when Andrew moved in but that was 20 years ago. Barely any work has gone on for two decades and people are shocked when they visit. There is a serious issue with damp that needs to be rectified and that isn’t cheap on a house of that size. It also needs a new roof.
“Not only does Andrew not have the finances to bring the home up to scratch, it would be uninhabitable when the work is being carried out.”
The Mirror contacted the Duke of York for comment, while Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
