An expert has claimed that the Sussexes, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, could ‘slam the brakes on their American Royal Family plot’, which comes as the Duchess prepares to launch her new business

It was recently claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could “slam the brakes on their American Royal Family” plot.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step back from royal life in 2020, with them then deciding to move across the pond and set up lives for themselves in Montecito, California. Since moving from England to the States, the couple have sat down for tell-all interviews, released a docuseries and Prince Harry even penned a shocking memoir.

Earlier this month, Meghan Markle then took a bold step towards the couple’s image rebrand that has been hinted at in recent months, with the mother-of-two unveiling American Riviera Orchard – her new lifestyle business.

The Duchess of Sussex unveiled the new venture in a social media post just moments before Prince William stepped out on stage at the Diana Legacy Awards in London at the start of March. And now, amid the Sussexes’ image revamp, a royal expert recently claimed that the couple are trying to set up an “American Royal Family” to rival King Charles, as per Express.

But Richard Fitzwilliams has now told The Sun that he doesn’t think this plot will be going ahead now. Speaking to the publication, Mr Fitzwilliams said: “There isn’t anything that the Sussexes are going to be able to do to monetize their connections with the Royal Family in the future that I can imagine.

“I would also think that Harry will be pretty devastated by the news of his father’s treatment for cancer, and also what’s happened to Catherine.

“Remember, their popularity is pretty low on both sides of the Atlantic, if anything else happened that was considered tasteless they would plummet.”

This comes as fans of the Sussexes anticipate what Meghan’s new brand and business venture will comprise of. According to reports, more than 115 items will be sold by American Riviera Orchard, with pet food, cosmetics, condiments and home decor items all speculation to be on offer.
