Prince Harry was talking about a specific Royal Family when he suggested the Queen needed “protecting”, according to reports. In his interview with NBC’s Today show the Duke of Sussex appeared to issue a veiled warning to those closest to the Queen saying he wanted to make sure his grandmother was “protected” and had “the right people around her”.
The duke did not elaborate on whether he was referring to royal aides or members of his own family. The Mirror has reported Harry may have been referring to an uncle. Buckingham Palace aides reportedly believe Prince Harry meant Prince Andrew.
A source told the news outlet: “Those images of Prince Andrew escorting the Queen to Westminster Abbey may have upset Harry, which is now believed to be one of the reasons he made such an astonishing remark.

“Harry is familiar with the Queen’s aides and there is no animosity at all. The Palace were aware he might do an interview, but no one was expecting those sorts of comments.”
The anonymous insider continued: “There is a feeling this may be linked to Andrew who has grown quite close to his mother in recent months.” In his NBC interview Harry also said he did not know if he will return to the UK to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, saying there are “security issues and everything else”.
