  • Royals reportedly politely declined but wished the couple every happiness

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge turned down an invitation to Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s wedding, it has been reported.

The groom’s parents David, 46, and Victoria Beckham, 47, are said to have written to Prince William, 39, and Kate, 40, to invite them to the $3.5million extravaganza in Palm Beach, Florida.

The royal couple, who had the Beckhams as guests at their 2011 wedding, politely declined.

A source close to the Beckhams told the Daily Mirror: ‘David and Victoria wrote to William and Kate inviting them and the family to their son’s wedding, and William replied wishing them a great deal of joy but they are unable to attend.’

David and Victoria also attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in 2018, prompting speculation Harry and Meghan might also be invited to Brooklyn’s wedding.

The fashion designer is thought to be close friends with Meghan, following the royal’s permanent move to the US. The Duchess of Sussex is often photographed wearing Victoria’s designs.

In February 2020, the former professional footballer spoke about how ‘he’s proud’ of his ‘amazing’ friend Prince Harry following his marriage to Meghan and the birth of their son, Archie.

But the same source dismissed the claims, suggesting David’s strong ‘attachment’ to the Cambridge’s meant they were the only choice.

‘David’s attachment and history go back with William and Kate and they have a very strong relationship and they were their choice of wedding guest,’ the source continued.

‘It was always about them, it was never about Meghan and Harry.’

Nicola and aspiring chef Brooklyn, 23, were married in an early evening ceremony in one of three massive tented structures constructed on the sprawling ocean front lawn of father Nelson’s $103million compound in Palm Beach, Florida.

The 300 revellers then moved to the banqueting tent – where DailyMail.com can reveal Brooklyn and Nicola’s first dance to a live singer belting out Only Fools Rush In, made famous by Elvis Presley.

The couple took to the dance floor at 8.10pm and finished to loud cheers from the guests. And the second song was the Ben E. King classic Stand By Me, we can also reveal.
