Prince William and Kate Middleton will be ‘very sad’ over Mike Tindall’s I’m A Celeb behaviour

The Prince and Princess of Wales will be ‘very upset and sad’ over Mike Tindall’s behaviour on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, an expert has claimed.

Royal author Angela Levin has accused Princess Anne’s son-in-law, 44, of ‘demeaning’ the Royal Family by participating in the hit ITV reality series.

Since entering the jungle, the former rugby star has won over fans by giving an honest insight into his marriage and surprise rapping skills.

Earlier this week, the father-of-three revealed that him and his wife Zara got ‘smashed’ on their ‘boozy’ first date back in 2003, which the expert insisted wasn’t ‘anybody’s business’ but their own.

She said: ‘I think it brings the royal family into disrepute.’

Speculating why the rugby pro signed up for the series, Angela suggested that the father was either ‘bored’ or just ‘wanted to have some fun’.

On Monday night’s episode, the father-of-three – who has been married to King Charles’ niece Zara since 2011 – broke out into a spontaneous rap, which prompted his fellow campmates to start referring to him as ‘Vanilla Mike’.

‘I think that demeans not just his wife, but his mother in law Princess Anne – and other members of the royal family,’ she said. ‘It’s not just a joke.’

What’s more, the expert said that Mike’s antics will also leave the Prince and Princess of Wales ‘very sad and very upset’.

Describing how Mike has always been particularly supportive of Prince William, the expert said his appearance has come out of left-field for the family and could mark the start of his new TV ambitions.

Last month, it was reported that Mike ‘did not seek permission’ from the monarch before signing on to the series.

Brand expert Nick Ede told FEMAIL that Princess Anne’s son-in-law could earn up to £150,000 for his stint on the show.

‘I am sure Mike will have been paid in excess of £150,000 to appear, but the true value of the show is what you do after it,’ the expert said. ‘Whether he gets a prime role as a sports pundit or panelist or host of a show who knows, but for ‘brand Tindall’ this is a great step and will increase his celebrity equity ten fold. All eyes will be on Mike this year.’

Earlier this week, royal expert Jack Royston accused Mike of ’embarrassing’ the royal family on the show.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Newsweek’s Chief Royal Correspondent claimed it ‘blows up that mystique and mystery and enigma that surrounds them’.

The expert also believes the reality show debut will only add to the troubles brewing amid The Crown’s release this week, and Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir Spare.

Describing how Mike’s appearance on the reality show makes the Royal Family look ‘cheap’, he added: ‘We’re waiting for Harry’s memoir, it’s going to come out it’s gonna be full of all these bombshells.

‘And then all of this machinery of royal sources and Palace sources and so on will kick into gear to say he’s cashing in on his royal fame and his royal connection.’
