Princess Charlotte’s adorable hobbies revealed – including one she shares with Princess Diana

Princess Charlotte shares a passion with her late grandmother, Princess Diana, despite never having the chance to meet her. The young Royal is quite the sportswoman, engaging in activities such as gymnastics, tennis, and horse riding.

However, it is her fondness for ballet that aligns closely with Diana’s own interests. Both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have spoken about Charlotte’s enthusiasm for dance; Kate revealed to English National Ballet director Tamara Rojo in 2017 that her daughter “loves” it, reports the Mirror.

In a special treat for Charlotte’s birthday in 2023, Kate took her and some friends to see a performance of Cinderella at the Royal Opera House in London. Prince William has also shared insights into their family life, particularly during his appearance on the Apple Fitness + podcast Time to Walk, where he discussed the children’s love of dance.

He said: “One of the songs that the children are loving at the moment is Shakira, Waka Waka. There are a lot of hip movements! There’s a lot of dressing up.

“Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything. She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing. It’s a really happy moment where the children just enjoy dancing, messing around, and, and singing.”

Like Charlotte, Diana had a profound affection for ballet, so much so that she once dreamed of becoming a professional dancer but was deemed too tall to pursue it seriously. Princess Diana, who later became patron of the English National Ballet, was known to have a passion for dance.

In a surprise move, she once took to the stage at the Royal Opera House in London for a public performance. The occasion was a gala event in December 1985, attended by Diana and her then-husband Charles.

At one point during the evening, the Princess discreetly left the Royal Box to join dancer Wayne Sleep on stage. Together, they danced to Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl,” a song chosen by Diana herself.

Wayne Sleep later shared his memories of the experience with HELLO!. He said: “I walked in and I looked up at this towering sort of goddess above me and I thought: ‘This Isn’t going to work; it’ll be hysterically funny’. Then I said: ‘You know, I’ve been up very late last night. Do you mind if I sit down? ‘ And she said: ‘No, not at all, you naughty boy.’

“From that moment, we started giggling and laughing. We had the same schoolboy humour. I was her sort-of jester, in a way, but we did get on incredibly well. We had something that clicked. She had natural style. She could do the high kick, she could do a pirouette and she had lovely swinging hips.”
