Princess Eugenie’s son August wears ‘beautiful’ gown in unseen royal christening photo

One photo showed Princess Eugenie and baby August during his christening at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor. This was a shared ceremony as Zara Tindall’s new baby, Lucas, was being baptised that same day.

The baptism of Lucas and August took place on November 21, 2021, exactly 181 years after Princess Victoria, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s first child, was born.

Princess Victoria was the first one to wear the famous Honiton lace christening gown.

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s daughter was baptised in 1841 in Buckingham Palace.

After the ceremony, Queen Victoria noted in her journal: “Albert and I agreed that all had gone off beautifully and in a very dignified manner.”

DON’T MISS

The dress was retired after the christening of Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor in 2005.

After that, all royal babies have been baptised wearing a replica.

The gown design was inspired by Queen Victoria’s wedding dress.

Made from white silk and a handmade lace overlay, the gown has been worn by 62 royal babies.

For her son’s christening back in November, Princess Eugenie wore a silk beige outfit which she combined with a classy cream headband.

The dress, which is by designer ZIMMERMANN, featured a colourful embroidered pattern around the neck.

The Aliane paisley-embroidered linen-canvas dress is still available to purchase online for £1,050.

Her husband Jack Brooksbank was donning a navy suit and light blue tie.
