Princess Mary of Denmark showed off her sporting skills as she took part in the Royal Run in Nyborg alongside her husband Crown Prince Frederik today.
The royal couple were also joined by their four children, Prince Christian (17), Princess Isabella (16), and twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent (12).
Mary, 51, who was born in Australia, stormed ahead of other participants during the one-mile run in central Denmark.
And on top of having the sporting skills, the mother-of-four certainly looked the part, donning an athletic ensemble for the event, including a purple t-shirt boasting the event’s branding.
She paired her top with navy blue leggings, and topped the outfit with a white baseball cap. The final practical touch was a pair of thick-soled grey running trainers.

And in a casual touch, the royal was snapped wearing a blue hoodie tied around her waist, as she stood at the starting line.
Mary kept her long brown hair out of her face by sweeping it up into a high ponytail, and kept her makeup to a minimum wearing black eyeliner paired with peachy lipstick.
After the race, Mary was presented with a bouquet of flowers and was pictured shaking hands with other participants.
The now-annual event started in 2018, with what was meant to be a one-off sporting challenge to celebrate Prince Frederick’s 50th birthday.
However, it proved to be such a hit with the public that the Royal Run has now been held for the past five years, attracting some 70,000 runners annually.
As well as the one-mile run Princess Mary participated in today, there are also 10km challenges and 5km races across five cities.
Mary famously met her husband Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark by chance at Sydney pub the Slip Inn during the 2000 Olympics.
After their encounter, Fred – who was in Australia to support Denmark’s Olympic sailing team – asked Mary for her phone number and a romance blossomed.

They maintained a long-distance relationship for a year, with Frederik making secret trips Down Under before Mary moved to Denmark to study Danish language at Copenhagen’s Studieskolen in 2001.
In early 2003, Frederik’s mother Queen Margrethe publicly acknowledged the relationship and the couple announced their engagement at Amalienborg Castle later that year on October 8.
Frederik and Mary married on May 14, 2004 at Copenhagen Cathedral, with the newly minted Crown Princess opting for a beautiful gown by Danish designer Uffer Frank and a veil first used by Crown Princess Margaret of Sweden in 1905.
Their first child, Prince Christian Valdemar Henri John, was born October 15, 2005; Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe followed on April 21, 2007.
Almost four years later Mary and Frederik welcomed twins, Princess Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda and Prince Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen on January 8, 2011.
