Printing Charity appoints three new trustees

The Printing Charity has appointed three new trustees to help support the charity’s future plans and ambitions, as the organisation approaches its 200th anniversary in 2027.

New trustee Lance Hill is chief executive officer of print and marketing services company, Eight Group.

Hill has worked in the direct marketing sector for over 35 years. He previously worked as director of Eight Group subsidiary, Eight Plus, before becoming managing director of Eight Group in 2019 and then chief executive officer in June 2024.

Other previous roles included working as media specialist at direct mail marketing company, MarketReach, a subsidiary of Royal Mail.

Elenor Hamshire joins The Printing Charity as both a trustee and honorary treasurer, taking over from Pauline Blake who stepped down at the end of 2024.

Hamshire is a qualified accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). Her previous roles included working as an auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

She also previously worked in the commercial finance team at Penguin Books, which was a subsidiary of Pearson before it sold its remaining 25% stake in 2019 to Bertelsmann for approximately $675m (roughly £529m at time of sale). Hamshire worked on global transformation projects at Pearson until her retirement in 2020.

Donny McCormick rounds up the new appointments. McCormick is a welfare and safeguarding professional currently working as director of higher education consultancy firm, Safeguarding HE.

McCormack’s higher education sector experience centres around implementing safeguarding frameworks aligned with legislation and government guidance, with previous roles at Robert Gordon University, King’s College London, and Unite Students.

Louisa Bull, trade union officer at Unite, has also been appointed as the Printing Charity’s vice chair. Bull replaces Julia Cole, who stepped down after having reached the nine-year maximum tenure as a trustee.

Speaking of the appointments, Printing Charity chief executive officer, Neil Lovell, says: “I am very pleased to welcome Elenor, Lance, and Donny.

“Building on our already strong and dedicated trustee board led by our chair, Dave Phillips, they bring key skills and experience which will provide great support as the charity focuses on ensuring that the services we provide are aligned to meet the needs of people in print and the allied trades.”

Speaking of Cole and Blake stepping down from their positions, Lovell continues: “We are grateful for Julia Cole’s and Pauline Blake’s dedication and energy throughout their time as trustees, including in their key roles as vice chair and honorary treasurer respectively.”
