Progress on the demolition work at the old Royal Mail sorting office on the corner of Bath Street and Brook Street shows the sheer scale of the building. Photos show the side of the building is now almost completely removed revealing tiles and fixtures within.

The former offices are now under the management of the Bricks Group which will oversee the £25 million proposed development. It will eventually become a 13-storey student accommodation but there is still an ongoing search to see if there are any caves below the structure.
The building which has stood on the site for more than twenty years was named Bendigo after the famous 19th-century boxer, William ‘Bendigo’ Thompson. It was once voted, the city’s ugliest building.
