Psycho seagulls launching kamikaze attacks at posties to steal letters and parcels

Petrified posties are running scared of psycho seagulls that have been launching kamikaze attacks to steal their letters and parcels.

The delivery workers have become so terrified of the flying rats they are telling residents the bloodthirsty birds are to blame for delays in their mail.

But they have managed to get letters to householders warning the gulls are so aggressive they are stopping the posties doing their jobs.

In a note to residents of Bogdara Way in Liskeard, Cornwall, the Royal Mail customer operations manager for the area says there had been “difficulties in delivering mail safely” due to the swooping menaces.

Ryan Lean added about nesting gulls on nearby rooftops being particularly aggressive.

He said: “As you may be aware, we are currently experiencing some difficulties safely delivering to you and your neighbour due to seagulls in the area, swooping at delivering staff in order to protect their young.

“The purpose of this letter is to firstly advise you of the issues we are experiencing, but also to assure you that we will continue to attempt deliveries every day.

“If on any day we are unable to deliver to you safely, your mail will be returned to the Liskeard depot where it will be held securely until we can attempt delivery again the following day.”

The letter admits the situation is “not ideal” and begs locals to accept “apologies for any inconvenience this may cause”.

But it added: “Whilst Royal Mail is committed to providing a consistent daily delivery to addresses, we do place the highest priority on the safety of our employees.

“Rest assured that we will be monitoring the situation on a daily basis with a view to resuming normal service to you and your neighbour as soon as possible.”

One local said the attacks may all be the work of one bullying gull nesting on the roof of her house.

The resident, who did not want to be named, said: “We’ve had the same seagulls nesting for a few years, since I’ve been here.

“It’s always the same ones. They don’t attack me for some reason but the posties and any council workers are running for their lives.

“My next door neighbour who’s elderly got swooped and knocked over, but he admits he also throws stuff at them. I always greet them.

“We’ve never had a letter before from the Royal Mail, so it’s definitely a first and did make me laugh.

“I don’t mind if there’s post delays… we protect the gulls and they protect their babies.

“I think they are incredibly cute, even if the posties don’t agree.”

Psycho gulls are also causing a flap at one of Britain’s most popular resorts.

Blackpool shop owners say the problem is “getting out of hand” as dive-bombing birds are grabbing food off children, old folk and the disabled.

Reports of the birds’ attacks on humans are also flooding in from other areas of the UK.

Victims include Michael Bradwell, 56, who was targeted while walking his dog in Bungay, Suffolk, by gulls who left him pecked and covered in blood.
