Public invited to view the ‘Royal Barge Procession’ along Chao Phraya River on October27

Members of the public and tourists can view the procession from both sides of the Chao Phraya River, from Rama VIII Bridge to Wat Arun.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Seeing the exquisite Thai Royal Barge Procession with your own eyes can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This rare spectacle of the royal journey to present Kratin robes to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) is scheduled for 27th October.

The Royal Barge Procession – a uniquely Thai tradition passed down from the Sukhothai era – is a ceremonial fleet of barges for the monarch. This year’s event will feature 52 royal barges, organised into five formations, with 2,200 personnel manning the vessels.

Members of the public and tourists can view the procession from both sides of the Chao Phraya River, from Rama VIII Bridge to Wat Arun.

We recommend the following six piers: Tha Wang Lang, Tha Phra Chan, Tha Phra Chan Tai, Tha Trok Mahathat, Tha Rod Fai, and Tha Maharaj, where seating can be reserved for the royal ceremony. (The reservations can be made direct to the operators via LINE: @supatraboat and @thamaharaj)

The procession along the Chao Phraya River has been included in the activities for the “Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 28th July 2024.” (TAT)
