PureGym set to open in Crewe this week

PureGym is set to open its newest site in Crewe later this week. The new gym opens Friday (August 11) at Grand Junction Retail Park.

Plans for the gym were submitted over two years before they were finally approved in March 2023. The former Sofology site will open as a gym at midday Friday.

The 15,000 sq. ft unit will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The firm says around 12 jobs have been created by the new opening.

PureGym is the UK’s largest gym operator, with 1.4 million members in the UK across 350 gyms. The gym will feature a functional zone, free weights area, fixed resistance, stretch, cardio equipment, fitness and cycle studio; as well as classes included in membership price and personal trainers.

Automated external defibrillators will be present in the gym, the firm says, with defibrillators installed at all PureGym sites. The firm operates a Personal Training Academy, a 14-week course that provides a qualification in personal training and a guaranteed job at completion, subject to interview.

A spokesperson for PureGym said: “We are delighted to be bringing the UK’s favourite gym to Crewe.

“The gym will be a fantastic facility for the people of Crewe and the local communities, providing access to PureGym’s state-of-the-art fitness facilities at an affordable price.”
